   Proposal Description:
   Identification of factors that contribute to cognitive decline in Alzheimers disease (AD) is crucial for developing interventions to delay the progression of dementia. Delirium is one such contributing factor that is prevalent and preventable. The present study's objective is to examine the effect of hospital delirium on long-term cognitive decline using data from the Massachusetts  Alzheimer???s Disease Research Center Patient Registry (MADRC), supplemented with data from Medicare and medical records. Basic demographic data are requested from the National Alzheimer???s Disease Coordinating Center (NACC) to provide normative patterns of descriptive characteristics for an AD cohort and demonstrate the generalizability of the MADRC sample.
